Come learn to grow your own delicious and healthful shiitake and
oyster mushrooms! These high value gourmet mushrooms can be grown in forested areas, providing a crop while allowing you to leave your woodlands intact! Even if you don't live in the woods, with just a few simple steps these amazing foods can be grown right in your own back yard. Topics will include cultivation of various species of mushrooms, nutritional and medicinal benefits of mushrooms, and a special exercise in myco-remediation techniques for cleaning up polluted runoff water! Together we will inoculate logs with mushroom spores as well as examine other techniques of cultivation. On our walks through the woods at Concentric Rings we will keep our eyes peeled for our fungus friends!
Donation includes the two day workshop, materials, lodging, farm fresh local organic meals (Saturday supper and Sunday breakfast will be provided. Students are responsible for their own lunches).
